This is an image taken in 2003 while on my way back from participating in a workshop in Jackson, WY. When shooting with film I always bracketed so when I started shooting digital I also bracketed exposures. Now that I have a better understanding of the histogram the need to bracket is not as important. I still do it on occasions but with the power of the histogram I sure use it less.

Boy, does this look cold with that wonderfully icy, blue wrapping around everything. I would say this clear evidence that you are making the histogram work for you! The light pulls me right through the scene and the clouds are so detailed they almost seem to move in front of me.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Anita. I think this was taken in October just before snow starts to fall. What I’m learning now is to really move the histogram to the right and maybe keep some of those highlights. This way we can have more data for post processing. Doesn’t work on all images but I’m learning. I think I said that before. 🙂

I really like this image. Such a wide range of tones to explore. You have to love the dramatic skies that come along with the colder weather.
