    I’ll Go Back

    Two Pumpkins

I had coffee at a small locally owned coffee shop called Cuppy’s yesterday morning. I had them adjust my latte by reducing the amount of mocha they put in it and found they did a good job. I found the shop to be inviting, comfortable and most importantly quiet. I can read and write in there very easily. I did have these two characters sitting on the table next to me but as I said they were quiet. I’ll go back.

    With Power

    Another Fallen Leaf

The leaf seems out of place but because of that it adds power to the image of rain drops on the car. It shouts louder to me than if it were lying on the pavement or grass. I quickly compose and move on. Once I see the image on my monitor I realize how much power it has for me. So simple but with power. Please enjoy your Sunday and sorry for posting another leaf image but they’re everywhere.

A Cold, Frosty and Foggy Morning

A Cold, Frosty, and Foggy Morning

For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.
For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.

    Edwin Way Teale

Most photographers think of the Fall season as an opportunity for capturing the changing colors of the trees or watching leaves as they flutter to the ground. It is also the season for harvesting and preparing for the coming of winter as well as a time when our mornings turn colder, frost turns the landscape a pale shade of white and fog delays the warming rays of the sun. To me that’s a good time to be out with a camera in hand.

    Seeing as a Child

    Something’s Missing

“It is part of the photographer’s job to see more intensely than most people do. He must have and keep in him something of the receptiveness of the child who looks at the world for the first time or of the traveller who enters a strange country.”

    Bill Brandt

I do need to be more of a child when experiencing this world of ours.

    Cold October Morning

It was a cold morning, 33 degrees with the humidity at 89% and clear skies. Perfect time to head out east for Autumn images. Five miles out and I can see the fog shrouded around the trees. My mind is racing to come up with a location to setup and shoot. I turned south on County Road 13 heading for a cattail pond. But, as I get there the fog looks more appealing so I move on farther. It was a good decision. Nature was showing off giving me glimpses of the ghostly trees, frost on the fences and the sun intermittently peaking through the fog. Another good morning to be out.

    A Foggy Morning

    Foggy Morning Across the Pond

Woke up the other morning to foggy conditions which we don’t have very often. So, went out and wandered through it. It’s one of those events in nature that must be experienced and not just observed through a window. Invigorating. Serene. Eerie. Magical. It was a good way to start the day.

    So True

    The Open Gate

“No one can persuade another to change. Each of us guards a gate of change that can only be opened from the inside. We cannot open the gate of another, either by argument or emotional appeal.”

    Last Night

Sunset Over the Rockies Last Night

A cold front moved into our area yesterday afternoon. With the cold front came the high wind gusts and awesome cloud formations. After reaching a high of 80 degrees in the afternoon we woke up this morning to a brisk 32 degrees. That’s about 50 a degree change in 14 hours and not that unusual for this time of the year. It’s also the first time for the furnace to come on.
