A Little Snow and Cold

“If I want to convince someone, I listen attentively first. Even if I am right, he won’t be convinced until he feels heard and respected.” Haemin Sunim

It is snowing, a light powdery snowfall. I like the quiet a snowfall brings. We have a couple inches right now but could see a total of 4 inches. Some brave soul had been riding their bicycle this morning as the only tracks on the sidewalk were their tire tracks. Snowplows are out. I find it interesting how the city of Fort Collins has small snowplows they use to clean the bike lanes. And, needless to say, it’s pretty quiet in the coffeehouse.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

These two images work beautifully together Monte. A two thousand word story in two pictures.

As for active listening, I would say that is something that is quickly going the same way as common sense. Endangered and nearly extinct.

Hopefully I am learning to be a better listener as I get older. I find it key to all relationships. Lack of listening skills was a part of my divorce, by both of us. I’ve heard it said that a healthy conversation is much like playing catch. We toss the talking and listening back and forth. If no one catches or no one throws a ball there is not game of catch. With our use of electronic devices now a days, it’s even worse.
