I’ve been back in Colorado for 14 months now and I’ve not been up in the mountains. So, this past Tuesday, after my doctors appointment, I headed up to Estes Park along the Big Thompson Canyon. I can’t count the times I had to stop and take it all in again. Oh, the smell of pine and the sound of the river are good for the soul. My trip back down was along Colorado 7, which follows the south St Vrain River, passing through Allenspark and Lyons. I drove 200 miles and loved it. I sure missed those mountains.
PS: I found this interesting read and wanted to pass it along.

I have been to Estes Park via Thompson Canyon several times and I agree that it’s a incredible trip!

Both canyons, The Big Thompson and the South St Vreain, are awesome drives with some wonderful rock formations.

My sister-in-law is from Estes Park and I have to say it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. I was informed this area is known as the “foothills” but the scenery is just gorgeous.

The town becomes a tourist haven in the summer months, packed, so I venture to other areas nearby. I grew up along the foothills and find it to have so much to offer. Twenty minutes west and I can be in the mountains and twenty minutes east, the prairie. It has it’s beauty just like all areas.

I’ve travelled through that area…beautiful. I love these clouds over the mountains.

The clouds are why I stopped. I sure needed that day!!!!
