This is one of those impulsive shots where I pulled off the road and took four shots then got back in my car and headed home. Every once in a while we need to stop and take a shot rather than ignoring the thought of taking a photo.

More often than not I see something like that that makes me stop and go back, but then I either don’t see what made me stop, or don’t make the photograph I thought I would make. I either find something in the way that I didn’t initially see that ruins the shot, the light changes, or I just screw something up! 🙂
Very nice light here. The very fine texture of the grass balances the relatively quiet sky nicely. It might also make a nice pano crop. I’ve been thinking of panos lately because I found out yesterday that my Facebook page is getting “Timelined” and I needed to find a suitable “cover” photo. Big yip!

I know what you mean as the color had changed dramatically by the time I stopped and pressed the shutter. That’s a good idea of a pano crop, may play with that this afternoon. Thanks, Tom. By the way I finally upgraded this old laptop to Snow Leopard and am now using LR 4. I see the improvements and quite confident I will be a better photographer now. 🙂

Now you’ve done it. Next thing we know you’ll be sporting a new camera! 🙂

Probably do that when Canon comes out with a 5D Mark XX. 🙂 I will say that Olympus tool that Earl is shooting with is tempting.

I’m glad you stopped. I for one subscribe to “everything else can wait if there’s a photograph at stake”. I always stop when I see a photo (unless it’s not safe to do so of course 🙂 ). I stop even if I don’t have a camera. Life’s too short not to take the time to appreciate those moments.

I like that, “everything else can wait if there’s a photograph at stake” and will have to remember that. And, I’ve been known to stop when it wasn’t safe. 🙂
