The above image shows some of the Poudre Rive flooding. It is difficult to get near the river with all the road blocks but my intent was not get too close anyway. What you are seeing is the over flow of the river which is actually beyond the trees. This image was taken 4 days after the river began flooding. It is a mess all along the northern Front Range and will take months to repair roads.
I’m leaving this morning for a road trip. It’s one of those impulsive moments with very little planning. I hope to stop at the Great Sand Dunes National Park then on to the Grand Can;yon. I’ve never been to either of them. If time permits I may head on to Phoenix to visit my parents. See ya in a few days!

I can’t believe all the reports of rain out your way Monte. And it’s been bone dry here in NC the last few months, as opposed to spring and early summer. Sounds like an excellent escape for you, and it should be a good time to take it.

Thanks, Tom. The trip has been good. Now in Phoenix sleeping in a real bed then heading out again in the morning. I’ve seen some beautiful country.

Driving back from Nebraska on Monday, the Platte was butting up against I-76 in Fort Morgan. What an incredible, unfortunate mess. I was up in Estes Park and Lyons the weekend before, hard to believe what those poor folks had to put up with…

I’ve been gone now for about 5 days so not sure what all is happening back home. The flooding has been difficult on people but they will rebuild.

Now, those are my kinds of trips, Monte. Have a great time. Wish that I could join you in your adventures, but then again, you may want to adventure alone. I’m glad you didn’t get too close to the river and get ‘carried away’ with your photography. 😉

This has been an interesting trip. I’ll write some about it when I get back, if I get back. Everything about this trip has been spontaneous and impulsive. I also know better than getting too close and taking as many risks, or at least making better decisions about what risks to take.
