After crawling out of my sleeping bag this morning to 29 degrees, I’m now in a hotel room in Loa, Utah at a place called Road Creek In. I tried to stay in Torrey but there are hunters on the prowl for deer season and a BMW motorcycle rally going on.  everything was full. This is the best I can get and it will be warm and not wind to deal with.

The last three days have been exciting. I’ve just touched Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks and Escalante State Park. I’m awe struck!  Such beauty. I can see why the Native American Indians call it sacred. The magnitude of these geological creations and how they were created go beyond my finite mind. And, yet they are so delicate.

Okay, I’m tired and going to bed. I will pass through Capital Reef National Park tomorrow as I head home. Still have a couple more days of this trip. So far I’ve covered over 2,000 miles and have about a 1,000 to get home. I will write more about this trip in a future post. Good night!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

A friend of mine and I once set out to camp in Shenandoah National Park in October. The first night there it was in the 20’s…the second night we stayed in the lodge. Can’t blame you a bit, these bones don’t care for the cold. Sounds like you are having a great trip.

I don’t mind freezing temperatures but when they drop into the mid 20’s the goose bumps start and toes and fingers hurt. I also did not prepare myself for any cold weather so things like thermal underwear were back home. I should know better and pack such things no matter what. I will admit that those temperatures do cause us to dress faster. 🙂

What is this green tinge that is forming on my skin??? Envy? Yes. I believe that is what it is! 😀 Hmmm, 29 degrees, eh? Brisk! I don’t think that I’m envious about that, though. LOL

Sorry about the green tinge. Maybe soap and water will help. 🙂 This is a trip you would have enjoyed, other than the cold mornings. The second night in the Grand Canyon was tough because the wind from the cold front as it moved into the area messed up any comfortable sleeping. I had to getup twice to reattach my rain fly, stopping it from flapping against my tent. Then crawling out the sleeping bag with cold temperatures added to the invigorating experience. We do have work on a trip to the Arches.

As a person who loves nature I would expect you to be envious also. I really did not do justice to any of the parks or myself as I only passed through as a tourist. The real trip would be to walk among those canyons and experience it, one at a time.
