Cortado and Water

Cortado
Cortado

In case no one knows, a cortado is a Spanish-origin general term for a beverage consisting of espresso mixed with a roughly equal amount of warm milk to reduce the acidity. I also sometimes ask for wee bit of chocolate added. And when you find a barista who can make latte art it’s even better.  🙂

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

That is some great latte art! Impressive! Not at all a fan of coffee, but it does look tasty and attractive 🙂 I wonder if they can do that with hot chocolate … then we have something to talk about!

We call that a macchiato over here. I rarely add milk to coffee, doing it only if the straight coffee is not to my taste, and then a macchiato/cortado is a good alternative for me. For desert though, I do like a good affogato which I think is Italian for drowned. That’s the only time I enjoy dairy with my coffee, when it’s in the form of icecream 🙂

The only time I get art with my coffee is when it spills over the side of the cup! A good barista that can do that has quite the talent. I didn’t hear anything about Affogato in Italy…maybe I’ll need to go back. 😉
