Cold November morning

Cold November morning sunrise and fog

My sister and I are flying to Phoenix next Tuesday to spend Thanksgiving with my parents. Mom just turned 88 and dad will be 91 in January. They still live alone but we do see the decline in activity. We have been doing this for the past 5-6 years. We are enjoying as much time with them as we can.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

Sounds like you come from very healthy genes, Monte. So happy you are still able to share this time together. May there still be happy years to come!

You are very fortunate to still be able to visit with your parents. I’m confident the Phoenix weather will warm you. My sister lives in the Phoenix area, don’t know when I’ll be able to visit her. If I’d known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.
    Ha! Have a happy Thanksgiving!

I’m learning to take better care of myself and don’t see it as too late. I would encourage you to visit your sister, never know what gift will be shared. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Every year with parents is a gift, so it’s great that you can see them at least annually. My parents have both been gone for over 30 years and I feel a large empty place as a result. We have a lot of neighbors who are in the same age category that my parents would be in. I’m glad to not have that personal connection with them but sometimes wish I could experience my parents’ aging, good and otherwise. I know you’ll have a good visit.

Yes. We’re taking dad for a visit with a surgeon because of some cancer on his left ear. Gonna see what they think we need to do. We also fly back to Colorado this evening.
