Dare to be Ourselves

“We have to dare to be ourselves, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be.”

May Sarton

Same place, different day, different canvas, different colors and clouds than yesterday. Makes me smile when I think about the constant of change and variety of scenes within nature. As I stepped out of the car this morning at Pineridge Natural Area, I noticed two young women wrapped in blankets getting ready to sit on the bench and watch the sunrise. One of them said good morning Monte. Surprised, I asked how they knew me. They said I met them last winter up here and they still had my card. When they saw me get out of the car they figured it was me. So, I find it interesting that within many of us is a desire to be known by others. While at the same time we can be known by people and never be aware of it. Which leads me to ask myself this morning why I need to worry about it. Seems Mary Sarton is correct, we just need to dare to be ourselves and let life be what it is.

Cold weather is heading this way so it will be frigid the next four days. For sure two blankets sleeping weather. Excited to meet with my oldest daughter, Christine, for lunch today. Stay warm and be yourself!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

To quote Popeye the Sailor Man, “I am what I am and that’s all what I am” Gorgeous range of colors in this sunrise. Stay warm!

Thanks, Faye! I think we reached a high earlier this morning. A little while ago, my weather app said 21 degrees but feels like 10 degrees. I believe it. Thankfully the wind has died down.

I’m with Faye, what extraordinary colors! I never cease to be amazed at the plethora of colors and shapes of the predawn and sunrises at that beautiful natural area. And doesn’t just being who you are begin with awareness and self-honesty? I’m really working on that, and you all help me with that thru these beautiful moments in creation and your wise words. Thank you! Blessings,

Thank you, Geri. I also believe that many of the comments made on these this blog help me be more aware who I am and who I am becoming. Every one of you is a teacher and for that I’m grateful. Hope you two fully recover from covid.

Thank you, Monte. I’m starting to feel better but poor Linda is still quite ill 6 weeks later! But we are safe and thankfully warm and well cared for by our Higher Power.

Some people bounce back quicker than others. I know Lori G. has been fighting with it for weeks. But she had other issues prior. Stay warm and I will keep you in my prayers.
