Experiences

Faith does not begin in what we imagine
But in what we experience.

Steven Charleston

I am not able to explain my faith. I could try, but any words would fall short. However, experience has brought me to believe the sun will rise and set each day, even after I’ve taken my last breath. And, I believe the seed of these experiences change and transform me. Because somehow, when I returned to my car after watching a sunrise or sunset I believe I am a different man. I would try and explain that, but any words would fall short. And, it happens a lot.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

I do believe that our experiences have a profound effect on us and our beliefs. Some experiences can affect almost immediate changes, while others are cumulative. I don’t believe we are always aware of or understand our true inner selves, much less in-process changes, so no detailed descriptions or explanations are needed. Just experience it. Since it seems I’m on a belief run here, I believe I’ve said enough! 😉

Very well said, my friend! I like how you call our experiences as in-process changes that do not need explanation. It is my desire that these in-process changes alter the way I live my life as a more evolved me. And I believe you said just enough.

Sometimes I wish we were able to record all the electrical and chemical activity in our brains, if only to try to decipher it someday in the future when we are wiser and have the technology to do so. It’s not left up to the frailty of memory, mood or random fleeting moments. Maybe therein lies unlocking some of the wonders of consciousness?

At this place in my life I have more desire to live in the frailty of memory, mood and random fleeting moments. There is always the possibility that deciphering the electrical and chemical activity of our brain would lead some to manipulate it for their own purpose. I’m not sure I want to unlock the wonders of consciousness because the experiences are what transform me along this journey of life, keep me human. I’m going to need some time to think on this, my friend!

I can understand that. I certainly wouldn’t trust any corporate entity with such information in today’s world. But I am sure some are probably working on it as a potential key to immortality, good or bad.
