About the bicycle

The bicycle I’ve purchased is a Trek Verve+ 1 LT which is a lightweight electric city bike. It has a lightweight Alpha Gold Aluminum frame with lowstep geometry, which is what this older guy needs. It has an 8-speed Shimano drivetrain, a Hyena (250W, 40Nm) motor capable of sustaining speeds up to 20mph, an LED Bluetooth controller, and 250Wh battery with an estimated range of 35 miles, which is integrated into the down tube. It also has hydraulic disc brakes, extra wide 27.5 x 2″ tires for stability and traction, ergonomic grips, fenders, and lights. The bicycle weighs 44 pounds, which makes it easy to maneuver and is easy ride without the assist. Being a Class 1 ebike, it has no throttle and therefore I must be peddling to have any kind of assist. Oh, and it’s red! Pedaling on….

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

That’s a sweet bike, Monte. Many years and many pounds ago I was a serious cyclist, but as much as it seems to try, Charlotte just isn’t the bicycle friendly city that Fort Collins is. I’ve got my old Trek road bike collecting cobwebs in the garage, but a bike like yours might just get me on the road again.

And red is a great color!

Thanks, Tom. The bicycle has gotten me back on the pedals. It adds a whole new dimension to the experience. As I mentioned it is a pedal assist so I have work at it. It’s a torque sensor so it adjust the assist according to how much effort I am putting in. When I come across a level part of the trails I will turn off the assist. The bicycle does wonder for the cardio, much more than the walking. Enjoy your Sunday!

It seems like a lovely e-bike, Monte, with practical and functional options. It’s certainly a beauty!
I’d consider hiding an Apple AirTag or something similar on it (perhaps under the seat) in case it decides to “take a ride without you” so you can track/find it.

I did buy a large more secure and expensive lock. For now I have no concern for theft because the coffee shop is all I really need to lock it. I will look into the Apple AirTag as I’ve never heard of it. I do know that on some ebikes the motors will not work unless I have a key.

This photograph should be in the company’s advertisement portfolio! I really appreciate your shares on this new experience in living, Monte. You may have just inspired me a bit to take a real look at this as an option for me to get out and enjoy beautiful Lander, WY again.

Thank you, Geri! I know several people who are exercising more and seeing more because they are back on bicycles. One of them is on an electric tricycle. If you can be so bold, I’d suggest taking one for a spin first.
