We were born with silence, and as we grew up we lost the silence and we were filled with words. We lived in our hearts, and as time passed we moved into our heads. Now the reverse of this journey is enlightenment. It is the journey from the head back to the heart, from words back to silence; getting back to our innocence in spite of our intelligence.

My life is filled with silence. I have not listened to music for many years. And, when people share about their favorite music, musician or movie, I am unable to be a part of the conversation because my life no longer includes that. The music I most enjoy now is the silent sounds of nature. Therefore, I spend a lot of time in the local natural areas. Happy Sunday!

Stunning. Peace. Silence. I am there on the still shoreline with you, Monte. Thank you for the respite. I am pondering the quote and your thoughts on silence. All my life I have had the mental distraction of music and oftentimes TV as my background soundtrack to keep the uncomfortable thoughts at bay. And then there is nature and Creator and Creation and the longing again for solitary days in the mountains or on the desert far away from any sound but the breeze in the tall grass or leaves of the quaking aspen. I needed to visit there again, Monte, to remember. I have just sat with this blessed image yesterday and today and felt the stillness and comfort of Creator. I really like the thought that as we age, we are returning back to the stillness of our beginnings in the womb. The peace, the comfort the silence.
