Last night the skies began to darken as clouds rolled in from the west. Before long a deep rumble could be heard and flashes of lightening lit up the skies. I stepped onto my balcony and was greeted with a very bright flash and clap of thunder as the skies opened and a severe storm raged through our area. Mans concrete and asphalt drainage systems were no match for incoming water so flooding was everywhere. What an awesome show of natures power. The last two evenings have produced storms. I took these images two nights ago as I drove east about 40 miles in pursuit of cloud formations.

We’ve been having evening thunderstorms here as well…but nowhere here can you capture such beautiful “wide-open” images of the storms and clouds rolling in. Wonderful!
Have a good weekend!

I’ve noticed you were also seeing storms in your area and maybe more to come.
One of the first things I notice about the landscape east of the Mississippi River was the lack of wide open scenics. I learned to look closer at what was around me, see the details. And, oh the plant life!!
And, have a great weekend, also!

What an awesome sight—I mean to use that word. Nature has that power to awe us, along with the power to inspire and delight. You have captured that power and beauty so perfectly. The wide lens adds a great deal to the impact. How wide is the len you used for this?

I am intrigued with clouds and how they constantly change shape and colors. Some look so peaceful and some present violence. Both were taken with a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, one at 25mm and the other one at 30mm. Have a super weekend!!

Fantastic, images, Monte. There is nothing more dramatic that storm clouds on the horizon.

I’ve missed these scenes and glad to see them again.
