I’ve not had the chance to head for the mountains in search of the celebrated aspen Fall colors. So, I went back in the archives and located an image that in my opinion depicts the colors we see in Rocky Mountain National Park. I think the aspen colors in the northern part of Colorado are very different than what you see in the southwestern part of the state. As of now, Trail Ridge Road and Old Fall River Road are closed due to snow with snow expected over the weekend. So, this image would look very different right now.

Fall foliage and snow are an interesting combination.

Yes, we mix bright colors with monochrome.

I was almost snowed in on a trip through Colorado one October long ago, so while I know it is indeed possible it still seems far too early for snow.

We’ve seen it snow in June along the foothills and in the mountains.

That’s a beautiful shot, Monte. I love the bits of yellow in the mountains and the dead tree in the foreground. It’s a bit early for snow, though … in IMHO! 😉

Flying in and out of Denver the last couple days we’ve seen lots of snow still on the ground along the Front Range. I enjoy the snowfall but not the road conditions it creates or the colder temperatures it brings.
