This is one of the surreal presets found in HDR Effects Pro. Again, it is three images at on stop. I chose HDR effects Pro because it felt their presets were not as surreal and closer to the natural feel. I’m not a fan of the surreal images we see done with HDR but as with most people I have to also play around with the software.

I’m not a fan of what is known as HDR today (don’t get me started on that!), but this is lovely. The colorization is lovely and makes me think of a watercolor on pen & ink print.

Thank you, Faye. That is quite the compliment coming from an artist.

If we aren’t going to give ourselves permission to play once in a while—to explore the myriad possibilities of all this software, why have it? Of course you know I love these explorations. I just don’t seem to have the constitution for wading through the presets. So, what do I do, instead? Spend hours more time wading through the longer, slower way to get something with a similar feel, of course. I love pushing out far beyond the computers in our cameras so get closer to what we felt about what we saw. Have fun, Monte!

Too funny, girl. I don’t have the patients to blindly tweak but find a preset I like and fudge around with. I even undo some of their adjustments.

Well, that is beautiful, Monte. I like it very much. I’m not a big fan of HDR, either, but this is very much like watercolor.

So far, I work to keep my HDR images as close as possible to what I saw. My primary purpose is to increase the dynamic range without screwing it up. The plus and minus one stop are all I need. I’ve stopped carrying any filters in my bag and never did enjoy working in the field with them, anyway. Glad you liked this one. It’s different.

I tend to use any presets as jumping off points. Some get very close to the effect I want but just needs that little bit of tweaking. This is very nice.

Thanks, Ken!

One think I like about this is the subdued colors. I think this works on many levels without being too HDR.

I also agree.

It doesn’t matter what you call it, if the result suits your vision then it is valid. If you hadn’t used the “H” word no one would have thought anything of it. I think it is an appropriate treatment for this photo.

Thanks, Tom. We have several software packages to help in our work at creativity. Might as well use some of them that interest us. Who knows what we can create.
