Ever wonder what an animal is thinking as they make eye contact and stare? In this case I assume he is not thinking about the political debates, his taxes, his 401k, or who won the Super-bowl. His focus is on the world around him, which includes us. This world is where he finds shelter and food, the necessities of sustaining life. He is part of nature. He stares at me trying to determine if I’m a predator or abserver, a danger or not. However, I do smile as it doesn’t look like he’s that worried about eating. 🙂

Oh, yeah! He’s trying to make sure that he’s not on your menu! I love how rabbits respond to a threat. They stand very still, like a statue, as if that is going to make them blend into the background. I suppose it works against some predators, though. Maybe that’s what this guy was doing. 🙂

I also moved slowly so as not to startle him. And, yes they do watch us pretty closely, staying a motionless as possible.

Haha, maybe it is a question of which way to the local gym? 🙂 Or, “You know, the last guy had a pocket full of peanuts, what do you have?”
Great picture that can bring up so many caption possibilities…

LOL Thanks for the laugh! I never thought about him wanting anything from me. 🙂

Monte, what they were thinking would depend on what animal we were talking about. This little guy was determining if you were a threat. A mountain lion or bear would have been deciding if you were a meal. 🙂

I think I’m too tough to be a meal and a bit salty. But, I do agree with you. 🙂

I agree that it has to do with who is being assessed as a possible meal. But, I like to imagine dialogue like the terrific ones dreamed up by Mark. By the way, it looks like this guy has had plenty of peanuts lately.

Yes, plenty of peanuts but not from me, I’m selfish! 🙂

I thought he had that “doing my taxes” look!

Ah, yes, the glassed over look. LOL
