A beautiful start to this day

The day began with quiet time at home then a visit to Pineridge Natural Area to receive the gift we are offered. The sky was filled with ever changing clouds and colors. A gentle wind created small ripples across the waters surface. A quiet stillness surrounded me. These sacred moments are vital to my spiritual journey and a beautiful start to this day. I’m now at a coffee shop, surrounded with rather loud conversations and all the noise that comes with this lifestyle. I consider myself an introvert if we define it as someone who enjoys spending time with just one or two people, rather than large groups or crowds. Too much external stimulation can cause me to feel uncomfortable. I will meet Mark later for coffee and conversation then back home to the quiet. Anyway, what a beautiful start to this day. I’m looking forward to the forecast for rain later this afternoon. 😊 May you have a wonderful day!!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

I’m the same, no thank you to crowds; especially in these crazy times. 😜 Enjoy your quietude.

A little bit of background noise can be helpful in isolating out the occasional “loud talker” but more bothersome for me is the “visual noise” that comes from a lot of activity. A busy restaurant with lots of people coming and going can be as bad or worse than the talking. And like you, as long as I don’t have to socialize with strangers the happier I am!

I get to deal with airports tomorrow – oh joy!

Actually there is an obscure line for me. I have adopted a life of almost complete silence when here at home, no music or television, only the silence of wind, birds and the constant ticking of the kitchen clock. I’m just not one to want background noise, it’s the silence I seek. I also understand and relate to the visual noise of coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

There are customers in coffee shops who I have connected with and usually enjoy these conversations. I’m just more content to have the quiet of my condo. Some strangers can be a delight. I had such an opportunity on Monday morning. He was quite interesting but it was a short conversation. Much more and I would have needed to move on. And, airports are not my thing anymore. Have fun on whatever adventure you two are taking.

Well, I’m late to the party but I see that you’ve renovated things around here. I’m guessing it’s not Squarespace as it doesn’t ‘feel’ like it but I do like the cleaner look.

Yes, the renovation is moving right along. No, it is not Squarespace although I spent a lot of time trying to make it work for m. I have almost 15 years of blogging that Squarespace could not bring in from the .xml files exported by WordPress. Through emails they let me know they were having troubles with it. I could only get about two years of blogging brought over. These posts were all formated a bit differently so each one needed to be dealt with. They also made a second copy of each digital image, increasing its size.. Let me say that I really like the simplicity of their themes and I also found it easy to get around. I decided to stay with a hosted WordPress blog now that Bluehost has me back up and running. The theme I’ve chosen looks much like the one I chose in Squarespace. I have also found a new plugin for WordPress that creates galleries I am much more comfortable with. I also do not have to spend extra money to change over. Glad you like this. Please let me know of any issues you come across.

I had the same problem with my Zenfolio blog. I had to bring them over one at a time and had over 5 years worth (just not every day). I ended up leaving a few dozen on Zen and they’ve not gone to the digital dustbin. I kept the ones that I felt meant something or had something worthwhile to say. I post them on my SS site now and then with a date and maybe a preface explaining why a 2018 post is popping up in 2023.

I’ve seen where you post those Zenfolio postings and I actually like how you’re doing it. It just seemed like too much work for me. Like you say, it’s not that I want every post but 15 years is a lot of posts and images. I just received an email from SS wanting me to give my feedback on the 14 day trial and that will be my focus. Staying with WordPress seems to be the most sensible thing for me. I was talking with a friend earlier today and the thing I probably need the most on my blog in better content.
