Awoke early, had my quiet time, made a french press then drove up to Pineridge Natural Area. Quiet up there and had the place pretty much to myself. The smoke from Cameron Peak Fire is very noticable in this image, especially in the color. The fire is now over 14,000 acres with over 500 firefighters attempting to control mother nature.
I had some journaling time at the natural area then did a short walk to get the heart rate up. I meet Joe for coffee this morning then cleaning around the condo. It’s gonna be a laid back kinda day. We need days like this.

Sounds like a pretty ideal way to spend the day!

So far it has been laid back. Clouds have moved in with a hot breeze. What we need is rain not wind.

Thanks, Cedric! And, I just happen to have my camera with me. 🙂

I imagine some firefighters are not so lucky to have such days out there but cherish them the same when they can. Amazing work they do.

As of this morning there are over 500 firefighters on the Cameron Peak fire and not at over 16,000 acres. Yesterday we had showers here in town and heavy rains out east, a typical pattern for the Colorado Front Range. The incident report states, “There were a few virga showers that created gusty winds but measurable precipitation was not received on the fire.” I expect they will see the same today.
I must say I don’t think they make enough money for the effort and risk they put out. Anger rises within me when I think about some asshole sitting on a golf cart somewhere watching thousands of dollars roll into their bank account. Income disparity! Sorry, I need to calm down.

I came across this map today, maybe you are already aware. Quite striking how many fires there are across such a vast region of the west: https://napsg.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=6dc469279760492d802c7ba6db45ff0e

Thank you for the information. I have not seen that map or website. I have been using one called InciWeb. It gives more details information on each fire that help my curiosity to know more about what’s going on.
