I like how nature can grab my attention with color. It does not have to be a brilliant color but one that pops out within the frame. There are many reasons leaves will turn yellow. One is a lack of adequate light. When plants become shaded by other plants or by branches higher up on the same plant, the chlorophyll fades away and the leaves yellow. They also change colors because they are not able to maintain adequate levels of the green pigment, chlorophyll. For me it does not matter as long as I enjoy the beauty it presents.

I love the framing here. Had you excluded the random confusion of all those lines running “every which way” and creating chaos, the leaves would be less satisfying. Of course, as you observe the color seals the deal. I find this a calming image.

Thanks, Anita. Sometimes I find myself looking through the view finder, composing without really walking through a thought process. It just happens.

Wonderful contrast between the yellow leaves and the dark green background. Also, the diagonal limb works well to lead the eye into the center of the photo. Nicely composed my friend.

The color in this image has so much contrast that I noticed it from quite a distance. I stayed focus on the two leaves and moved closer and pressed the shutter when I felt it was time.

I agree with Earl. The subtle background colors and lines are just as interesting, but of course the yellow leaves make the photograph.
