… since I posted anything and then I have to put up a photo of yours truly. I’ve been on the road and fighting a head cold so not much time spent shooting or on the computer. My ears have been plugged since last Sunday when I tried to fly. That was not going to happen so I had to call off the trip. A couple doctor appointments and not much improvement. Snow is expected this evening and into tomorrow. Â So where’s Spring? Hope everyone has a good weekend.
I like the light in this image. Which asks a couple questions. Do you have a favorite light? If you look back through your archives is there a specific light you seem drawn to?

The snow is not melting fast enough for me, either, but I do hope you feel better soon and get on to the business of making photos. Not that this is a bad one, but I miss that tree.

Well, it is snowing as we speak, big beautiful flakes. We need the moisture and I will take it anyway I can. This cold has my daughter also and now a grandson feeling like a cold coming on. It’s a day to say inside and sip on some soup.

Another nice portrait, Monte. As for a favorite light, I’d have to say the morning and even light. I love long shadows. That said, I love window light, too.

I’m with you as morning and evening light are great for landscapes. Soft diffused light is great for portraits and street work. Want some of our snow that is falling right now? I can shoot a snowball at you.

Mine favorite light is the rapidly change light found just before a rain storm.
Monte Stevens
Yes, I agree on that, Steve. Some of the cleanest and brightest light is found right after a rainstorm has moved through.

I forgot to mention that my favorite light is available light, no matter what time of day or what direction it’s coming from. I jut need enough to make a photograph.

So, right, we can’t be photographers without it. 🙂

Most will find it strange, but I’ve become appreciative of midday light. I’ve found some of the harsh shadows it creates work well for some of my lunch time photo walks. And it can be a challenge!

Totally agree with you. I will often find myself with camera in hand and heading out at any time of the day. When we hear that calling then off we must go.
