As I mentioned yesterday we woke to a nice rain shower and received about 3/4 of an inch. That’s pretty good for us. Around noon the sun popped out and the skies turned a beautiful shade of blue. With blue like that I had to head out east and find open space. The rain and wind sure cleared the sky so images were everywhere. It was a time to gave thanks for the rain. Now I have to wash the mud off the car. 🙂

Wow, that is a great shot Monte. The reason I know that is because it makes me wish I’d taken it 😉
Brilliant composition.

Thanks, Cedric. I think it would also look good if I cropped the blue sky but the blue is what tickles me inside.

The blue expanse makes it for me. It reflects and balances out the lack of variety of the plain below it; the entire scene divided by the freeform clouds. As above so below kind of thing. Without the blue sky I dare say it would be a pretty picture but it would completely lose its dynamics. It would no longer speak of the quality of uniformity.

Thanks, Cedric. I do appreciate your comments.

I agree with the comment about the sky. Especially if your title is Blue Skies, why would you crop it out? 🙂
We don’t have enough free space in our world. It’s often referred to as “negative space” but that’s not always accurate. Sometimes the whole point is to have open space, and I think this photo is a good example.
I bird or contrail up there might have been cool, though…. 🙂

Never thought about calling a bird or two but that would have added to it also, or even the moon. I also agree some of our use of language can twist the meaning. I like the use of free or open to negative.
