Cold North Wind

wind ruffled feathers
hawk sits on barren branches
a cold north wind blows

Spent the morning at Pineridge Natural Area this morning. A cold wind blew from the north so I had the area all to myself. Brought coffee and sat in my car listening to the wind whispering all around me and did some journaling. A robin perched on the fence letting me know they were watching but there was no song. The wind was ruffling their feathers. I watched Red-tailed hawk soar in over the reservoir and perch on a barren tree. You can barely notice them. I could see the wind ruffling the feathers of the hawk. The overcast skies and wind made it feel colder than it really was. For me it was a good way to start my day. Stay warm.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

The wind was blowing here all day yesterday, moving in a cold front. It was 28 degrees when I took Maggie out this morning. She comes alive in these colder temperatures and I start to resemble the little brother in “The Christmas Story” all bundled up to the point of restricted movement. I don’t do cold the way I use to. Just another complaint to be filed with the no-one-cares department. 🙂

Your morning sounded like a pretty gratifying way to start the day, Monte. Give my best to robins and have an enjoyable week. Stay well!

Whoa! I saw where you were cold that way. I’m not like Maggie, either. I have a friend whose dog loves the cold and snow. He rolls around in the snow as if it was the best thing ever. I watched this morning as the Canada Geese sleep on the ice. Crazy what the animals can experience so differently.

I bundle up like you do. Can’t handle the cold as I did in younger years. We were cold today, not getting much above 35 degrees and a breeze made it feel colder. The east is not going to be much warmer, either.

Beautifully cold image, Monte; made me shiver. It was 28 here this morning – not Colorado-cold but plenty cold enough for me.
