words from a deep reservoir

a daily practice
I have been making it a practice to open my journal after my prayer and meditation time to write from that deep reservoir. I find my days seem to move along smoother when I practice this prior to reading email or any type of social media. The journaling in this quiet time seems to nurture a rich spirituality, a solid foundation for the day, and set my attitude in a good direction for the day.

I admire your commitment Monte. Seems I have started and faded a lot of such attempts, but need to make it more like brushing my teeth – you just do it everyday no matter what.

What I have read that meditation, centering prayer and journaling are about suiting up and showing up. It’s about the intention of each. I really like how you use the metaphor of brushing our teeth. You are a good writer, blogger, which in many ways is journaling. Blogging and journaling both bring out something from within us.

Appreciated. Though I have a hard time keeping up. I write pretty slow, thoughts get rewritten, clarified, reworded, deleted, redone. Not really aiming for any sort of “perfection” per se – just the muse seems to come and go. You are right though, it’s about just showing up and making it a habit, which I need to work on.
