Door Knocker

What is it?

Not sure what this is. It reminds me of a door knocker but it’s not. There were four of them along this wall I found while street walking. It’s one of those objects we walk by and seldom notice. For me the shadow along the right side adds something to the image. Its antiquity and the aging wood have these intricate details that I wanted to capture. Maybe it is a door knocker.

Well, it certainly looks like a door knocker. Odd that there were four of them. Perhaps that was a big movable wall. You should have looked for secret passages! 😉

Monte, I’m not sure what they were being used for along a wall, except perhaps decoratively, but I’m fairly certain there original intent was as door knockers. Sometimes people do strange things in the notion of style. 🙂

I like the image, the knock knocker or not knocker, (say that five times fast), the shadow and all. However, somehow, my brain or my eye wants to balance it more. Maybe move the knocker off-center, play with the shadow. Just some ideas. The photograph draws me in, no doubt.

I had to say it a half dozen times before it came out ever close. However, it did not sound vulgar at any time and I got a good laugh while trying it. I did crop the image and moved the “not knocker” to the left but kept the shadow pretty much alone. Let me know what you think.
