Espresso Beans

Coffee Beans and Espresso Shot

A few years ago I worked as a barista in a coffee shop. I enjoyed the work, the young people I worked with and the customers. Those customers looked to us for the start of their day or the end of their day, it was a part of their daily ritual. I’m also one of those individuals who patronizes a coffee shop on a regular basis and it can become an expensive habit. So I purchased my own expresso machine about 4 years ago. So now I have a ritual in making the morning latte or cappuccino which includes tamping the ground beans, steaming the milk, pouring the shot and marking it with the foam. And, the best part of the ritual is curling up in the lounge chair or on the couch or your porch and sipping your own warm drink.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

Monte, I’ve been temped on several occasions to purchasing an expresso machine but so far have resisted. Since I don’t make everyday visits to a coffee shop it’s never been cost effective in my situation. Still I believe the process would make the results even better. Nice DOF usage in the image.

I admit I do not use it as often as I have in the past. I enjoy the ambiance of coffee houses as much as the drink experience. I was able to purchase my espresson machine with my employee discount which pushed me over the edge. I hope I’m not snooty about it but enjoy the times I do use it. Fall and winter are probably the seasons I use it the most. And, this was taken with that $200 35mm f1.8 lens. What a bargain for me.

    Monte,

The photo makes me want an Expresso. I can almost smell the fresh aroma of the beans. I love coffee, and I’m assuming you are a huge coffee fan as well?
I like the detail in the photo, the faded machine in the background, the spilled over beans flowing from the cup. Oh, I can smell the coffee!
