I don’t write out of what I know; I write out of what I wonder. I think most artists create art in order to explore, not to give the answers. Poetry and art are not about answers to me; they are about questions.

As of the first of May, Denver and the northern Front Range, have received about 7.5 inches of moisture. Everything’s so green. However, 60% of the rest of the state is still in a severe drought. They say that Colorado farmers can expect the driest year in the past 20 years. We have been hot and dry the last few days so this green will quickly go away. Loving it while we have it.

That is a beautiful, lush green. Lovely photo, Monte.

Yes. We are already starting to see the change to brown. Suppose to reach mid 90’s today.

Once again they’re doing draught stories about the Colorado River from the Hoover Dam and how low it’s become. Farmers are drilling for scarce water again rather than go fallow. And yet, we throw away 30% of the food we buy.
SD will be in the 90s this week.

Yes, our thinking seems to be off kelter. We are so dependent on the goal of profit. I read that about the Colorado River being very low. My parents and a sister live in Phoenix and they are going to be very hot over the next 7 days. Hard to imagine an overnight low of 89 degrees. Sheesh!
