Here Comes the Snow

Now sitting at a coffee shop looking to the mountains in the west. They are now being shrouded by clouds as a storm moves into the Colorado Front Range. There will be more snow and plenty of cold over the next few days.

Spent almost 6 hours with Adobe support yesterday trying to get Lightroom Classic installed and running. I had to let them have control of this new computer on a couple of occasions. Amazing, this technology and how far behind I am. They had to go into my keychain, which I knew nothing about, and delete some Adobe files that were dated back to 2009. Whew! It was a test of my patience and think theirs. Now have Lightroom working and used it for the above image. See, I’m already a better photographer. And, it was a raw file rather than a jpeg.

I can feel the difference in this keyboard. There will be an adjusting period. Don’t suppose this new laptop will make me a better typist? I may type faster which means I can misspell more words faster. 🙂

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

It’s funny that as smart as our computers are, sometimes they can be so troublesome! Who would have thought that something from 2009 could even make its way on to a new computer, let along compromise the installation of new software.

I’ve always been partial to the way my photos looked using Lightroom on the Mac, but have gotten used to the way they look using Windows. 😉 I’m very much looking forward to seeing the new and improved photos. Soon you will need to buy a new camera to make the most of the new computer. 🙂

And that typing thing? Sometimes I wonder what my fingers were thinking! Makes me consider going back to pen and paper. And film! 🙂

Yes, Tom, the technology can be a wonderful tool but we must know how to use the tool. Always a learning curve but why does it have to happen every 6-12 months.

I thought seriously of moving over to Exposure X4 but there again the learning curve. I’m happy with LIghtroom and as long as the price is not an issue I’ll probably stay with it. My image quality and how much enjoyment I have with it will be dependent on it’s simplicity. Not sure about going back to film, but who knows.

Congratulations on your new purchase. Like Tom, I am amazed that files from 2009 were causing the problem. I can’t even begin to fathom how that could even happen. I reckon it’s a conspiracy to force us to upgrade more often. I can’t imagine companies like people such as us who only purchase new gear every ten years or so rather than every two. In any case Monte, I am glad you finally did upgrade, because you know, I was getting tired of the mediocre photography coming out of your ten-year old laptop 😉 LOL

Conspiracy! That’s it! Thanks for reading and adding comments to my blog, so appreciate it. I feel like a slacker in not commenting on your post and others I enjoy following. You all enrich me in some way and teach me.

In watching the tech working on my computer. While in the keychain file there were 5 Adobe files. He highlighted all 5 then deleted them. Surprisingly 4 deleted but the one from 2009 would not. It took him a while to finally delete it. All is good now.
