Lovely quote. I have a book by Thomas Merton that I like to read pieces of from time to time. It’s called New Seeds of Contemplation. I’ve had it for years and, though I’m not a religious person, I find his writing very accessible, profound, and thought provoking. I used to have it on my nightstand and would read a passage or two before going to bed. It was very comforting. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I think that I’ll read a bit tonight. 🙂
“It is not that someone else is preventing you from living happily; you yourself do not know what you want. Rather than admit this, you pretend that someone is keeping you from exercising your liberty. Who is this? It is you yourself. -Thomas Merton”.

I like a lot of what he has to say which is from a Christian perspective, yet relevant to all faiths. I have his book New Seeds of Contemplation and I also read it in pieces, a snippet here and there.

Amen to that…and we’ve actually been able to find some places of silence. Lovely photo and thought, Monte.

I would expect you guys to experience more of that on this adventure. I see you as one who searches for places of quiet and solitude, anyway. Hope all is well!

Very good advice. I’m going to look up the book that Paul referenced and put it on my reading list.

As Paul mentions it is not a quick read but requires the reader to read it leisurely. Yet, I highly recommend it as one to have on a bookshelf.
