I like the writings of Thomas Merton. To me, he makes a lot of sense. Finding one’s vocation takes a few things, I think: Patience to wait for it to bubble up. Silence to listen for it – that tiny voice letting you know what it is/might be. Courage to pursue it even in the face of everyone telling you to ‘be realistic’, don’t something ‘worthwhile’, make something of yourself, etc – projecting all of their fears onto you.
Hope that you had a great Friday, Monte!

He has been a favorite author for the past 15 to 20 years. I now have a copy of The Inner Experience which was his last book. He does lean on a Christian slant but this book is far more inclusive. He has been a spiritual friend for me.

Wise words by Mr. Paul up there….

Yes, he is! In Merton last book he wrote he thanked for us to “pray for me, because now on we are, in some strange way, good friends.” He has been that for me! So, has Paul.
