Hello There

Longhorn
Longhorn #1009

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. The great affair is to move.”

Robert Louis Stevenson

Still in Phoenix. Teasing my parents that I’m moving in with them now that I’m retired. For some reason they are not laughing. Anyway, I met up with this guy on my way back from a morning of shooting on the Peralta Trail. He was standing along the road. I stopped, rolled down the window and asked for directions. No response, only the stare. So, I grabbed the camera and took a photo. It’s amazing to me they can live in such a harsh environment, eating cactus does not seem feasible, but they do.

I’ll be back on the road tomorrow, heading home. I plan on taking a new route and pass through the Moab area.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

I like your joke on your parents 🙂 though it could end up with you looking after them given enough time and if they end up like my in-laws I can tell you that it makes looking after babies and toddlers seem like a holiday.

Nice shot for an out-the-car-window shot, by the way.

I have thought about that scenario with my parents. I do have much to give back to them so I would step up to the plate for them. And, yes it may be quite the burden. I presently have a daughter and two teenage grandchildren living with me. That is also a burden. All I did for the car shot is lift the camera and point in the general direction. That’s what I got.

It’s the same with us, my in-laws have always been nice to us and have always been there to help us out so it wasn’t difficult for us to step up and help them in turn. It does however take up much of our free time as they both have Alzheimer’s and dementia. It’s a lot like dealing with babies but in full grown bodies. It’s one thing becoming physically sick as you get older but it’s a whole other thing when mental faculties start to go.
