My online journal where I share my interests in photography, nature, coffee life, journaling, fountain pens, bicycling, spirituality and asking deep questions.
Yeah, I love coffee and was a big coffee drinker for years…humm, perhaps too much of a good thing. Last year I had to give up coffee due to it causing severe acid reflux. I’ve been drinking green tea instead but I still miss my coffee. I miss it enough that I’ve ordered some low acid coffee to see if I might be able to drink it. Others with a similar issue have had success with this particular brand. So hopefully it will be coffee time again here…on a limited basis. I’ll find out this coming week. 🙂
I am coming to the point of questioning whether my coffee use is a bit too much. I’ve been noticing some stomach irritation. My time in coffee shops is primarily for the social aspect more so than the coffee. I drink more lattes than drip coffee. Enjoy you weekend, also!
Brooks, sorry to see that coffee doesn’t agree with you. That would be tough. Good luck with the low-acid brand. A friend had a similar problem and found that it was the combination of milk and coffee that gave him the problem. So if you drink your coffee with milk, you might want to try it without the milk. Just in case.
Sometimes I wish I was reacted to caffeine as you do. As I mentioned above I drink more lattes than drip coffee so I’m wondering if the stomach stuff is a lactose problem. The only way to know is to stop! But……
Oh, not at all, that last espresso short black after dinner is the best coffee of the day 🙂
Ok, I admit that coffee has no impact on me. I see that as a good thing but I have to say that there are some mornings when I wish it did 😉
A couple days a week I meet some friends for morning coffee and drink regular rather than decaf. I can tell the difference. However, I must admit that the caffeine in chocolate or teas reacts differently with me.It is now Easter morning, 27 degrees and a light dusting of snow. Now at a favorite coffee shop with a mocha in hand and a smile on my face. Maybe I need to find a meeting! 🙂
I’m not one to take in caffeine after mid-day, like noon. They have an iced drink at the Bean Cycle made with cold brew coffee. They call it the Kerouac and serve it in an iced root beer mug.. One hot summer day about 1:00 pm I stopped in an ordered one. Penny, one the owners warned me about the caffeine as I would normally drink a decaf latte. I figured it would be safe due I was wrong. At midnight I was still wired, even had the shakes. Lesson learned!
On the weekends I usually hold back a cup to drink over ice in the afternoon with a little half & half, otherwise I’ve learned to enjoy the actual flavor of the coffee and not all the stuff we can put in it! I’ve never used sugar but was pretty hooked on cream. I can get the shakes from a strong cup, but since those usually cost me money I don’t indulge very often. 😉

Cedric, nope, always drink it black…not even sugar. So it’s not a milk/lactose thing but thanks for the tip! 🙂

It’s always time for coffee, as far as I’m concerned! Well, maybe not before bedtime. 😉
