… so here’s another self-portrait, this one taken in my hotel room in Kansas City. Our hotel is located in an industrial park area near the airport with a large holding pond surrounded by large buildings. With beautiful sunny skies I walked the paved trail that goes completely around the pond. However, I discovered the pond is also a place for geese to gather so I got in a bit of the goose-poop-boogey during the walk. That trail was a mess. 🙂
I received my base transfer notice yesterday and will be moving back home to Colorado, flying out of Denver. I’m excited to be heading back to family and friends but sure do dread the physical move. I need to be out there by February 1st, so not much time and plenty to get done.

Monte, congratulations on the transfer. I know you’ve been missing Colorado and you family and friends so this is a good thing. Best of luck with the move!

Thanks, Earl. I’m tweaked.

Thanks, Steve!

Congratulations on the “ticket” home. Moving is never, ever fun; but, I have particular sympathy for anyone forced to do it less than a month. At least it will over soon and you will be reunited with friends and family. Best of luck.
Monte Stevens
Thanks, Anita! It will be worth the effort.

Nothing like moving in the dead of winter, eh? Hope all goes smoothly, and enjoy your return to Colorado.
Monte Stevens
Thanks, Paul. It is a very different situation than your move. Have a good weekend!

Dorothy said it best, “There’s no place like home.”
Monte Stevens
Thanks, Don, and I’m noticing the excitement of going back is increasing.

Ahh I know the hotel well Monte and even the goose poop on the trail, usually where the wife and I stay if we need to spend the night for an early departure. Moving is such a hassle but the reward of being back to a place called home is well worth it. Don’t over do it during the move (I know that’s easy for me to say).
Safe travels.

t’s a nice hotel and the area around the hotel. Ee are not too far from Zona Rosa mall but one visit a couple years ago was all I needed to see of it. I think you said it well, “the reward of being back to a place called home is well worth it.”

Good for you, Monte! You looked pretty composed for a man who has to be moved half way across the nation in a few weeks. More power to you, I am very happy for you.
Monte Stevens
What you see is fatigue rather than composer. My first thought about moving was ‘Now where do I begin?” 🙂

I brought the New Year in with a bug and just got back with the world and your blog. Congrats on transfer! What a wonderful way to begin the New Year being close to family. Will miss my coffee buddy though. Be save and hope your move goes smoothly. 😉
Monte Stevens
You are right Rita, and I had not thought of that. It is a good way to bring in the new year. Beats having a bug. Hope you’re feeling better and hope to run into you some time at the coffee shop.

Good luck with the move Monte. Wear warm cloths!
Monte Stevens
Thanks, Ken!

I cannot believe that I didn’t comment on this very cool photo! Another nice self-portrait, Monte. Congratulations on getting back to Colorado, though you won’t be there but half the time. 🙂 I’m just wondering who could turn down the great state of Ohio for mountain vistas and other things. Ooops. Wait a minute. I was born on Ohio and live in Charlotte. Never mind! LOL
Monte Stevens
You sound confused, Paul. 🙂 I’m ready to move back, although it will not be the same, never is. I’ve already sent some stuff back then the rest will all be in my ghetto car. Looking forward to seeing those mountains, again, and post a few images for ya.
