… join the dance

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Alan Watts

I arrived four minutes before the coffee shop opened and stood outside. I watched and listened as the wind blew begging the trees to dance with her. Even in these unsettled times of our society and with the wind of change blowing, I stood there having a feeling of being settled and calm inside. I took a couple long steady breaths of prayer, raised my camera and took four images of the gently swaying trees. Shortly, my barista, Winter, opened the door and I entered to enjoy her mocha latte and the gift of my coffee life. And, I knew I was joining in the dance.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

Most of the time it seems like we are tossed into change rather than consciously deciding to plunge in, but I agree that once there, the best way is to move with it instead of fighting it. Kinda like the advice of how to handle a riptide, swim parallel instead of against it until the currents settle down. Sounds like you’re having a good week.

A very good metaphor, Earl. In my past when I am tossed into it I let thoughts in my head run a muck and find myself going down rabbit holes. I’m a slow learner, but I am learning to move with it rather than fight against it. Life becomes more enjoyable when I can do that. I still must make choices, but I can do a better job with those when I’m in a good head space. I am about to leave for town to meet my youngest grandson for brunch. Yes, I’m having a good day. Thanks for stopping by.And I hope you have a good day!

I certainly can see the benefits of going with the flow once in a while. I really like this photograph! The curves of the branches lend themselves to that feeling you describe. Good eye for seeing and framing this up.

Thanks, Mark. I get to see these trees on a regular basis and have several images of them. This one felt right. So abstract but so appealing to me. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Seems as though March is coming in like a lion for many areas. We’re having a yoyo spring, 70 one day, 50 the next. Hoping things will settle soon.

Good morning, and wonderful to see you here this morning. It brought me a smile. We are also expressing.I’m experiencing the ups and downs of the weather. Warm one day cold the next. This morning is beautiful, the eastern sky full of magnificent clouds, while rain and snow possible later tonight. But I am ready to see buds on the trees and the grass turning green. Do you have a wonderful day! Again thanks for stopping by my friend!

Nice pairing here, Monte. Branches are such an interesting subject, never the same, always seem to be in motion and alive, even undressed.
