Letting Go…

A small flurry of falling leaves.

Where selfishness excludes, love makes room and includes.
Where selfishness puts down, love lifts up.
Where selfishness hurts and harms, love helps and heals.
Where selfishness enslaves, love sets free and liberates.

Michael Curry

While walking home from the coffee shop this morning I was caught in a flurry of leaves on campus. Each leaf letting go and entering their freefall into an unknown phase of their journey. I was walking in a green, yellow, gold, and red snowstorm. I loved it. I also saw it as a subtle message for me to let go of my fears, worries, wild imagination, awfulizing (which is just one type of irrational thinking), and my desire to have some control. All of these point to my selfishness. Makes me wonder if our nation of entitlement and privilege is a mask of its deep selfishness. We as a nation are moving into an unknown phase of a new journey, a freefall like the leaves of fall. No matter what the future will look like, may I let go of selfishness and remember that disorder always precedes reorder. Thanks for listening! And, it’s been a cold blustery day here. Stay warm!!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

Your words are very comforting, Monte. I’m struggling with being overwhelmed, by hate and awfulizing. Such a perfect word. Have a great Friday and weekend.

It began snowing here about 9:30 am with expectations of 1-3 inches. I’m not sure if this country has hidden its hate and white privilege mentality and I overlooked it or accepted it or if I have evolved beyond that thinking. I also am overwhelmed. Yet, this may be a true gem in disguise.

Bless you, Monte. I still am praying, and trying to do my part, that goodness and love will prevail in this moment, and each moment to come, in my heart and in the hearts of all of my fellows. Your words are so very eloquent, Monte. Thank you for the HOPE.

Praying, whatever that is to each of us, may be the one great gift from this whole experience. The election results has caused me to reevaluate what I believe in, my values, my white privileged life and the direction this country has chosen to go. It is now snowing and after two hours beginning to stick to the ground. Thank you for your hope and prayers.

As much as I like to keep up on what is going on, I am pretty sure I am going to change that. It becomes such a burden mentally, especially with so many news outlets covering the same thing whenever someone does or says something dumb. But that’s what people voted for, free and fair election (presumably) – and voted for an autocracy. They should get what they voted for.
