I have friends vacationing in Hawaii with kids and grandkids. I’m a bit envious of them sitting on the beach working on a tan. All the photos they’ve sent include big smiles. Yet, this morning while visiting the Top Minnow Natural Area, I was reminded by the red-winged blackbirds and the meadowlarks of just how beautiful it is right here. They were reminding through their joyful songs to be grateful for where I’m at and what I have. These two Canada Goose told me the same thing. I’m learning to listen to the wisdom of nature more often.

Beautiful photo, Monte. In addition to listening to nature, you’ve shown why it is also good to look at nature.
At least your friends are not in Hawaii while you’re shoveling snow!

Thanks, Tom. I received a couple more photos of the beauty they are experiencing in Hawaii. 😍
Yes, nature has a way of exciting our senses. I love it!

Beautiful scene, Monte. This is the second time this morning that I’ve been inclined to get my Hawaii photo albums out of storage. I literally cried the first time I set eyes on the coast of Kauai, back in 1989. I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful place on earth. Good memories. 🙂

I actually was stationed at Hickam Air Force base in Hawaii from 1969-1972. I did some partying while there. At that age I was more focused with bikinis on the beach rather than all the beauty of the island. I also have some good memories but would like to return and see how different it is now. I also would like to include the other islands.
It is windy and cold here this morning. Have a great Friday!

That nature, she isn’t so bad looking at times also. 🙂
Beautiful photo Monte. I wouldn’t mind being in Hawaii either right now. I believe it is possible to both envy and appreciate home at the same time.

Love the beauty of Nature! Yes, Hawaii would be nice since we are expecting cold and frozen mix over the next five days. There is something to be said about coming home. Maybe the real answer is to have a home in Hawaii. 😁
