“Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gizmos. Photography is about photographers. A camera didn’t make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel.” Peter Adams
A few days ago Fujifilm announced the release of the pro Fujifilm X-T3 camera body and the new Fujifilm XF16-80mm f4.0 lens now in a kit. The lens is something I really want and will most likely buy in the future, but I really do not need the pro camera. However, in a very short time I was convincing myself I’d make better images with two new tools and my mind became totally occupied on working out a plan to justify the purchase of both. It took several hours of this mental masterbation before reality checked in and I knew that no lie could justify the purchase of both. Maybe I should post the above quote on my bathroom mirror to help me remember. Or, maybe I should sell my condo and buy the kit. Or, my car. I know, I’ll take out a second mortgage. Sell my oldest grandchild. Sigh!

Truth! I’m not interested in upgrading my camera, although I did spring for a new lens recently. I use my D700 mostly with the telephoto lens… so not very often. Love the slip of moon.

My post is a bit beyond the truth. Yes, I lost for the next shiny toy but not always willing to spend the money. Have an Awesome day!

Based on your recent post, Faye, it looks line Santa had other plans! 😉
Faye
I never argue with Santa!

You know, I’ve not bought a camera in several years. After I read this, my first thought was: Hmmm, I could use an upgrade! LOL. G.A.S. is contagious. Then, a cooler mind prevailed and I thought: Hell! I hardly use the ones that I have. No dice!
I will admit that I did take a gander at the Fuji! 🙂 But, thankfully, no cameras are on the way – I have spent a bit of time and money at The Home Depot, with no regrets. I like my saws and whatnot!

I remember the post you made a while back on G.A.S. and still giggle when I think about it. And, you have spent some money on home repairs that needed it. I have two cameras at the present. One is 6 years old and the other is 4 years old. They both require a photographer behind them to work.
Paul
No way! Cameras take good pictures, not photographers! Everyone says so! 😉

I’ve been lied to? Best pre-order a couple now!

You sure have an interesting way with words, Monte! But I knew exactly what you meant and mean.
I love the look of that new lens, but to me it would need to replace something I already own. It’s got more range than the 18-55 but is almost as big as the 18-135. So it’s too big for when I want a compact lens and doesn’t have the range when I’m willing to carry a big lens like the 18-135 to get the range I want.
Oh well. I’ll wait until you get one and will see how much you like it! 😉
Monte Stevens
I don’t know how long a wait you’ll have. 🙂

I so much want the X-Pro3 and the X-100F but I do understand what makes an excellent image and it isn’t an X-anything. Nonetheless, a beautifully crafted piece of gear can be inspiring. Yep, sigh…
Monte Stevens
Beautifully crafted is a good way of saying it. I think that’s the big draw for Lieca photogs. I see the X-Pro3 as such a camera. I actually would like to see if they implement some of the X-Pro3 into an X-E4.
Tom Dills
I hope they actually make an X-E4. That would be a worthy upgrade at a good price point. I’m not too interested in spending $2,000~ for a camera body any more – that’s why I gave up the Canon!
