Sigh!

One  of the first images I made with my first digital camera the Nikon D100

“Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gizmos. Photography is about photographers. A camera didn’t make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel.” Peter Adams

A few days ago Fujifilm announced the release of the pro Fujifilm X-T3 camera body and the new Fujifilm XF16-80mm f4.0 lens now in a kit. The lens is something I really want and will most likely buy in the future, but I really do not need the pro camera. However, in a very short time I was convincing myself I’d make better images with two new tools and my mind became totally occupied on working out a plan to justify the purchase of both. It took several hours of this mental masterbation before reality checked in and I knew that no lie could justify the purchase of both. Maybe I should post the above quote on my bathroom mirror to help me remember. Or, maybe I should sell my condo and buy the kit. Or, my car. I know, I’ll take out a second mortgage. Sell my oldest grandchild. Sigh!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

Truth! I’m not interested in upgrading my camera, although I did spring for a new lens recently. I use my D700 mostly with the telephoto lens… so not very often. Love the slip of moon.

You know, I’ve not bought a camera in several years. After I read this, my first thought was: Hmmm, I could use an upgrade! LOL. G.A.S. is contagious. Then, a cooler mind prevailed and I thought: Hell! I hardly use the ones that I have. No dice!

I will admit that I did take a gander at the Fuji! 🙂 But, thankfully, no cameras are on the way – I have spent a bit of time and money at The Home Depot, with no regrets. I like my saws and whatnot!

You sure have an interesting way with words, Monte! But I knew exactly what you meant and mean.

I love the look of that new lens, but to me it would need to replace something I already own. It’s got more range than the 18-55 but is almost as big as the 18-135. So it’s too big for when I want a compact lens and doesn’t have the range when I’m willing to carry a big lens like the 18-135 to get the range I want.

Oh well. I’ll wait until you get one and will see how much you like it! 😉

I so much want the X-Pro3 and the X-100F but I do understand what makes an excellent image and it isn’t an X-anything. Nonetheless, a beautifully crafted piece of gear can be inspiring. Yep, sigh…

Beautifully crafted is a good way of saying it. I think that’s the big draw for Lieca photogs. I see the X-Pro3 as such a camera. I actually would like to see if they implement some of the X-Pro3 into an X-E4.

I hope they actually make an X-E4. That would be a worthy upgrade at a good price point. I’m not too interested in spending $2,000~ for a camera body any more – that’s why I gave up the Canon!
