Met this young lady at the coffee shop the other morning. Loved the light on her so I asked if I could take a photo and one is all I took. Many of you know I’m one who spends time at local coffee shops with my books, journal, fountain pens, camera and openness to who I will encounter. It is always an adventure.

Thank you Faye! No, not everyone wants their photo taken especially when they find out it’s for a blog. As I mentioned, this young lady was hesitant. I gave her a business card hoping she would feel more comfortable. Most street photographers will know what it’s like to here the answer, “no.” I respect all no’s!

It’s hard to imagine that anyone you’d be willing to ask would say no. But a lot of people are paranoid.

I imagine you have developed quite the eye for noticing these photographs while just sitting in a coffee shop. I have to admit I am usually quite oblivious, perhaps focusing on eating/drinking/etc.

I think so. It’s a hit and miss if I take an image or ask to take an image. I felt comfortable with this young lady. There is another young woman totally engrossed in her homework so I will not bother her. I go by a lot of gut on where to shoot or let it go. At least I am looking.
