trees reflected in still waters
nature’s calming gift
Trees and their reflection along the eastern edge of Dixon Reservoir this past week. The plains were shrouded in fog and everything was blanketed in morning dew. Love the feel of this image even though the technical quality is lacking. The backlit leaves, the calm water and the reflection make it happen for me.
Update: As per suggestions from Tom I played around with this image and came up with this post processed scene. I do like it better. Let me know what you think.

This image definitely works for me as well, Monte!

Thanks, Earl! It was shot at 300mm and then cropped.

Technical, schmechtical. Works for me, Monte! Beautiful light, and good timing.

Ah! I learned a new word today: schmechtical. Now, I need to use it. I learned from this image and will approach this scene a bit differently. I also may play with it more to see what I can do in Lightroom.

Glad I could add to your lexicon! You didn’t ask 😉 , but my thoughts were that a panoramic crop and punching the brightness and/or saturation of the lit trees might work well.

Thanks for your input. I went ahead and changed this image with your suggestions. I may have gone overboard with the panoramic crop. This may be one of those images I come back to a couple more times. There is something about it that I like.
Earl
The panoramic crop works well. Personally, I liked the cooler (greenish-blue) tones of the first image.

Thank, Earl. the second one is closer to the real color. But, I must admit I like both. Ah, to be a photographer!
