Morning Ritual

Morning Ritual

“Ritual is necessary for us to know anything.” Ken Kese

These two are regulars at the coffee shop. They come in and sit at the same table. He plays with a game while she reads. He drinks a juice and she drinks coffee. I took this image without them knowing it then showed them the image. I was surprised how excited she was. It tells a story of a mother and her sons morning ritual before school and work. Hope they had a good day!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

Time spent together is a good thing…even if they are doing separate things. This seems to be the new way — not many people know how to interact or communicate these days unless it’s via text in 140 characters or less.

A good photo capture, Monte. The sunlights really nice on this.

It was the light that grabbed my attention as these two are a common scene, the ritual.

I have an image somewhere in my archives of a couple dressed in business attire and sitting opposite one another at a small table. They both have laptops open and facing each other. I asked if I could take a photo because there was a time when people sat opposite each with their coffee while holding up a newspaper.

This business of being together, but not together is a bit upsetting for me. Perhaps it is the era in which I grew up. This is so foreign.

Still, at least these two are together and there is some kind of bond that holds them together even in their separateness. I am glad you showed this to the mother.

When I first saw this, I thought they were both praying. Then when I read what they were really doing, well, I binned it to each having their own religion. 🙂
