Morning Starburst

It was 37 degrees when I left the condo this morning. Cold mornings like today make for chilly rides. In spite of the cold I do enjoy the short ride. And, the Earl Gray tea at Mugs hits the spot. This image is taken outside the front door of the coffee shop just after the sun has risen. The older buildings are a part of CSU campus.

Morning Starburst

I’m getting accustomed to using the bicycle as my primary mode of transportation now. I used the bicycle to meet my oldest daughter for lunch today, about a ten mile round trip. Again, I took the bike trail so I’m not dealing with traffic. They have built tunnels under the major north south bound roads so I needed to only cross one busy road, which has a crosswalk light. These trails also keep me connected with nature, where I get to experience the beauty of our fall season.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

You are lucky to live in a beautiful, bike-friendly town. Where I live, I’d be hit and run over in less than a mile. Haha! 😉

    Nice early morning photo!

Yes, I am very lucky. And it continues to become more bike friendly. After saying that, there are certain roads in this town I will not ride on because they are not designed for bicyclists. I will continue to use the bike lanes and the bike trails. And today has been an absolutely stunning fall day in Colorado.

It sounds like you purchased your new bike at the perfect time to enjoy a wonderful fall season. We’re currently in Vermont, where we also experienced a lovely fall day with the leaves peaking. Locals say it’s an excellent leaf-peeping season this year, and we’d certainly agree with them!

Just trying to catch up on your posts – you are a writing machine!! 🙂
Mobility beyond cars is an important topic lately in my area, so your adventures in getting around more on your new bike are interesting to me.

While they are improving here with trails, it is still very car centric. It is Detroit after all. But even the downtown area has quite a few bike paths installed in recent years. I have yet to explore them, but is something on my todo list.

As I’ve mentioned before the city of Fort Collins does a Wonderful job with the Natural Areas, the bike lanes and bike trails. They have also done well with mass transit in spite the cities strange layout, the train tracks divide the town. I am not just riding to lessen my carbon footprint but I’m enjoying it. Even this morning when it was 43 degrees.
