Mornings Snowfall

Snow began falling yesterday morning with those big beautiful fluffy snowflakes. The powdery stuff you blow off the car. For some insane reason I decided to hang out in the cold along the foothills between Pineridge Natural Area and Reservoir Ridge Natural Area. First stop was Pineridge Natural Area. Didn’t feel like sitting on the bench but what a view!!

This is a group of trees just below Pineridge Natural Area. Horsetooth Reservoir and dam are just hidden behind the trees. So often images just do not convey the feeling we are experiencing before us. But, I’ll keep trying.

This is from the parking lot of Reservoir Ridge Natural Area. I was facing a cold 8 mph wind about this time and the snow began picking up. I also slid through a red light on my way to this area. So glad no one was going through the green light. So, after taking this image I headed to the safety and warmth of home.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

It is cold and clear this morning. I’m good with that because it will melt the snow and ice. Looks like you are going to have a good day today then cooler temps and rain. Enjoy the day!

Monte, while you may not feel these photos adequately convey the feelings you were experiencing, they do bring back my own lovely memories of big fluffy snowfalls. Beautiful images and we’re all happy your red light experience didn’t “go south.”

I’m glad the bring up memories. They also bring up those memories for me. So glad no one was going through that intersection. I do believe that is the first time I’ve ever slid through a red light with no control. I’ve intentionally ran one or two when younger. 😏 Enjoy your lovely day!

Beautiful, Monte! It’s warmed up here enough to melt 90% of the snow leaving just mud and slush. We may get a surprise snowstorm before April but I think we’re on the other side of winter.

We are seeing sunny weather today so some snow will melt but it is going to stay cold for most of the week. After saying that we seeing buds on the trees and green grass in the open meadows. Yes the other side of winter.

Like Earl mentioned, I am glad the road slide didn’t “go south.” Very serene photos. I wish I got out more this winter, but life has a way of getting in the way at times.

It’s a scary feeling when I’m in a 2,000 pound vehicle and have no control of it on ice. Lucky! I have not been out as much this winter either. I blame it on heavy blankets.
