While visiting my parents during thanksgiving my dad gave me his father’s pocket watch. A treasure to me. It does not run but the hands turn so I may have it repaired.

I love watches old and new… and this is a beauty. The fact that it was owned by your grandfather makes it extra special.
Maybe you should not have it fixed… it will tell the correct time twice a day 🙂
Like the photo style you choose for the picture.

You made me smile, John. I had not thought of that and actually like the idea.

A very classy pocket watch and a lovely treatment of the image, Monte.

Very nice watch and quite appropriate photograph of it. I’ve got an old watch of my grandfather’s (or maybe his father) around here. Might need to get it out. The father of a friend of ours repairs old watches, so let me know if you decide to get it repaired. I also kind of agree with the sentiment of not fixing it. The problem with getting something repaired or restored is that it then tends to become a project instead of a treasure. Sometimes just having the treasure and the memories that go along with it is a better option.

Hope you find the watch. I’ll let you know if I get it fixed but at the present time I don’t think I will. It’s not something I’ll want to carry with me but more along the lines of memories, that treasure you mention.
