Usually when you listen to some statement, you hear it as a kind of echo of yourself. You are actually listening to your own opinion. If it agrees with your opinion, you may accept it, but if it does not, you will reject it or you may not really hear It. That is one danger when you listen to someone.

We always have to contend with a bit of confirmation bias, don’t we? But the important thing I think is to listen, as you say, with an open mind and not dismiss something outright without at least considering it.
Lovely photo! Great clouds and an interesting foreground.

Yes when we have an open mind and not dismiss something outright we are better able to really know what someone is saming. They could be saying the same thing but with different words. Hope you are staying warm!

I feel like I need to print this out and glue it to the wall next to my desk, as a constant reminder. Thanks for sharing.

I actually like that idea, Alex! I can often use a good reminder.

It’s hard to be aware of personal filters when we digest information. I’m not sure one can ever be completely unbiased.
I can’t help but be a bit envious of having such breathtaking views, as captured in this photo.

I’m not sure one can ever be completely unbiased, either. And, yes, I do live in a wonderful place. It rained prior to this image and I have an image of a double rainbow. Hope you stayed warm today!!!

I can readily say staying warm is not an issue I’ve suffered from recently. It’s felt like triple digits the last few days, and as someone said about the humidity, “I’ve been in saunas that have been dryer!” 😉
