“This is the power of art: The power to transcend our own self-interest, our solipsistic zoom-lens on life, and relate to the world and each other with more integrity, more curiosity, more wholeheartedness.”
Maria Popova
Heavy rains this morning as I sat in my car at Pineridge Natural Area enjoying, listening, watching and journaling. I sat there for an hour as nature received it’s gift of life sustaining rain. We have had several days of 30-70% chance of rain which has provided beautiful skies. This image was taken Friday morning at Arapaho Bend Natural Area. I wonder if the power of art Maria is referring to in her quote is our observation of art, the partaking in the making of art or both. I am of the belief that I must be present to experience the power of natures art and thus be a part of it. Enjoy your Sunday!

Beautiful clouds and lovely reflections, Monte.
Art has many powers, and that holds true regardless of whether we are creators or viewers.

Thanks, Tom. I think this is going to be one of my favorite images.

Gorgeous reflections! Hope your week is sunny 🌞

Thank you, Faye. This morning was heavy fog and mist. However, the sun has just come out and feels wonderful. And, may you have a wonderful week.

Sure could use some of that rain here. Mostly we are getting smoke from fires in Alberta, CA – which seems strange just to type it and think about the distance it is drifting.

I had those same thoughts about the distance the smoke can travel. We experienced the smoke a few weeks ago but the wind currents have shifted so we see less of it. I notice the smoke mostly in the mornings along the eastern horizon when the sun filters it into a dirty brown color. We sure have had the rain here while I’m aware there are many who need it and want it. If I can bottle it up I’ll send you some!
