looking out across the meadow

my mind restless and troubled
seeking the quieting of my spirit.
as the sun sets over the mountains
nature empties herself completely
finding the quieting of my spirit.
This simple poem was inspired by one of Mary Oliver’s poems. She spent time in nature on an almost daily basis which is motivating me to do the same. At times I feel regret for those times I could have spent in nature. I wonder if time in nature inspires me to write or if my writing inspires me to spend more time in nature. Have a great day!!
P.S. We have water falling from the sky. People are telling me it’s called rain. ☔

Isn’t that quite the ‘chicken and egg” conundrum? But if you do ultimately achieve the quieting of your spirit, does it matter which came first?
The past is the path that has taken us to where we are today. Regret for what might have been may help if it allows us to mindfully shape how we go forward.
Glad to see you are getting some desperately needed moisture. Hopefully it will be a meaningful amount!

Right on Tom. Yes, the moisture has been nice but we need much more than we have gotten. Could see more over the next two days so I’m continuing the rain dance here.

Immersing oneself in nature is a very effective method to calm one’s troubled spirit. Enjoy!

I would expect you to feel that way, also. Just for your information I went back and read those four stories we wrote about the pens being lost and found. Can you believe we wrote those 12 years ago? Cold and overcast skies here today. Have a wonderful day!

12 years! How can that be possible? Yikes.

Somehow time just slipped away from us! 😁
