A favorite bookstore has an upper level with several lounging type chairs that can literally swallow you. There always seems to be people settled in the chairs with either their laptop or a book. And every once in a while I’ve found people comfortably asleep. Todays trip to the bookstore found this young lady with her laptop and a beam of radiating light coming from the skylights.

I’ve taken a nap or two a the book store myself!

I’ve found college students face down, drooling on their paper or text book, after trying for an all nighter.

Wow Monte
With light like that I would have been grabbing people from all over the store and getting them to sit for a portrait. Great image, I think I would go just sit there and wait.
Hey come visit the NW when you get a chance.

My breath was taken away when I came around the corner and saw her. I will remember this an have other opportunities. Would love venture out to the West Coast again as I’ve always enjoyed it put there. And meeting up with fellow photographers is a neat experience.

The lighting makes it look like a scene from a play. Great shot, Monte.

Thanks, Paul. Have ya showered since the walk to Tuff’ys and back? LOL

Holy smoke, just stunning. Did you grab this before you spoke to her? The pose seems so natural
Monte Stevens
Yes, I never did speak to her, snapped it and walked away. One image is all I took. As I’ve only been using my 35mm f1.8 lens, it seemed odd that I had just changed and put on a zoom that morning before I left the house. I would not have gotten this image with the other lens unless I approached her.

The depth of b&w is excellent here, really suits the scene! I can imagine that if you left this color, it wouldn’t have allowed the contrast to be so spot on.
