This mornings coffee shop included a drive to Bindles on the east side of town as they have good mochas and an ambiance I enjoy. As I stepped out the door, the eastern sky was just coming alive with the few scattered clouds slowly turning a beautiful red. I felt an inner joy as I drove into that eastern sunrise. I watched the red fade to pink then a light shade of orange. By the time I arrived in the parking lot the sun was just beginning to rise. Once out of the car I grabbed my camera. The day was arriving. I smiled!
I smiled again as I sat down in one of the comfy chairs in front of the coffee table. A couple minutes later a young lady joined me to share the coffee table. When I asked if I could take a photo, she told me she treats herself one day a week to a bowl of cereal with fruit, a cup of coffee and a good book. Today was that day! I smiled again!
This morning was a great way to start the day; a sunrise, a mocha and experiencing, sharing this life with a stranger. As Thomas Merton says, it’s all about the experienced awareness that makes life rich and full. I’m still smiling!
Sending prayers for all my friends on the east coast and hoping you stay safe!

Sounds like a great way to start the day. I love seeing the sun come up, especially on those types of mornings when there are clouds in the sky and the color is shifting constantly. Some of my favorites are on those particulary humid North Carolina mornings and the vapor in the air gives the sun a magnified look – there’s a huge orange ball. If I’m walking, I stop to watch. If I’m driving, well, not so much 🙂

Thanks. Paul. Our sky is smoky this evening as they are doing some controlled burns up around Red Feather Lakes.

Great series of photos, Monte, they communicate a great sense of a good morning. I especially like the lattice, sun rays and warm tones in the first image. I smiled too.

Excellent set of images Monte. I consider coffee to be like a shot of liquid sunrise. 😉

Thank you, Cedric! Makes me wish I had the opportunity to sit at table and share conversation and liquid sunrise with you.
