Last week I slept in one morning. It seemed like the covers weighed a ton making it too difficult to get up. After another hour of sleep I found the strength to remove the covers and crawl out of bed. The sun was already up casting that warm morning light through my window. As I watched the sun in my room several questions went through my mind. What did this mornings sunrise looked like? What colors were there? What animals and birds would have watched it with me? What would it be like to see every sunrise or sunset? How many people see twelve or more sunrises or sunsets in a year? What would I be like if I experienced more sunrises and sunsets? Would I have a quieter mind, know more peace? Lots of questions this morning. Maybe I should have gotten up earlier. 🙂

Monte, will there be a print of this hanging in your bedroom soon? If not, it’s a shame. What a beautiful, serene, and inspiring image. The only problem is that with that hanging in a spot where you could study it and not get out from under those heavy covers, you might stay in bed longer! I love this piece of work.

LOL With that recommendation I assume you also allow those heavy covers to weight you down in bed. 🙂 Thanks, Anita.

Quite the opposite, in fact. I see lots of sunrises. My failing isn’t the warm blankets, but I don’t get out the door. It is so warm and cozy inside, the view is lovely, and there is so much work to be done. Result is the same, just different blocks.

LOL Hugs to you!

This is very nice, Monte. And an excellent reminder about why getting up early often pays off. I don’t always live my own advice, but I tell people that the photographer’s most important tool is the alarm clock. Anybody can do sunsets, but it takes dedication to do sunrise.
There’s always a sunrise somewhere better than the one where you are. But you still got a nice shot where you were on the morning of this one, though.

Thanks, Tom. With my two youngest grandchildren now living with me I’m not able to get out there as often for those sunrises but make sure they are getting off to school. It’s a temporary thing then back to setting that alarm clock. 🙂

I like the crop you applied to this photo, Monte. I’ve been doing more 16:9 crops for landscapes and it’s really a good format for them.

I’m finding I make more crops like this, especially for landscapes. It also tweaks my interest in trying my luck at panoramas. Thanks, Ken.
