    Sense of Wonder

If I had influence with the good angel who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children, I should ask that her gift to each child in the world would be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life as an unfailing antidote against boredom and disenchantments of later years, the sterile preoccupation with things that are artificial, the alienation from the sources of our strength.

Seems her suggestion for a sense of wonder for children, as well as adults, is relevant today. I do believe this world would be very different if we all turned away from our phones, computers and televisions and took a walk around the block to experience a sense of the wonder of nature.

    Touching Hearts

“The desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. The desire to reach hearts is wise.”

    Maya Angelou

It has been a lovely Sunday, sunshine to warm the soul and journal outside in the sun. The sun has set as I write this and the darkness descends upon us. But I wanted to update you on a short trip we will make. My dad’s graveside service will be on Wednesday morning the 17th at 9am in Follett, Texas. Sheree (my sister), Monica (my youngest daughter), and I are going to drive down leaving early on the 16th and stay one night in Perryton at the Quality Inn. We will visit with cousins and eat that evening at Clay and Jill’s house. At 9am the next morning we will gather around his grave site for a Celebration of Life and share individually something about how dad touched hearts, ours and many others. We will head back right after the service on the 17th. So, it will be a short trip down and back. I hope you had a wonderful Sunday!!

    Offer of Peace

    white down feather
    clings to the branch
    an offer of peace

    ms

While sitting outside a couple days ago to journal, I notice this down goose feather clinging to a branch. Three days later it still clings tightly to the branch even as the wind blew. I wondered why it seemed to still be attached and what the feather could symbolize. As I watched it flutter in the wind I felt there was something I could write about this scene in a post. So, I took this image. Then later after a quick search I found that finding a feather can symbolize angels are watching over you or finding a white feather can be a symbol of peace. So, I pray today for white feathers of peace to descend over all of the world. The world needs it!
